A husband who announces a cutback on spending for the household will face condemnation by his wife and her friends for deprivation of wifely entitlements. When a school principal chooses to expel a student for chronic academic and behavioral delinquency, he is browbeaten by the district for punishing the underprivileged. A local politician announces a crackdown on vagrancy in city parks, transport, and public streets, and he is persecuted for “criminalizing homelessness.” Rational, strong, unpleasant, yet necessary action is universally punished.

American society has been failing for years now in large part from a paucity of father figures. This is our own fault. We are presented with few examples of constructive, leadership-focused, effective men who get results. And results don’t come from bending to self-interest or emotionally driven pressure.
